So, as a guy, I’m diving into one of the most gloriously petty squabbles I’ve ever witnessed, typically reserved for women.
Let’s get real, ladies: stop shaming women for their choices in childbirth or baby feeding.
Whether you’re all about that natural birth life, rocking an epidural, or opting for a C-section, it’s your call, and honestly, nobody else’s damn business. Judging others just screams, “I’m insecure and need a trophy for my personal superiority contest.” Newsflash: it doesn’t make you a warrior; it makes you look like you’re auditioning for a role in “Desperate for Validation: The Reality Show.”
It’s downright tragic seeing moms spiral into guilt over their choices, especially when formula is their only option. We seriously need to recalibrate our collective attitude. Educators and birth experts need to stop puffing up the miracle benefits of breastfeeding while casting formula in the role of villain. Let’s give a standing ovation to all feeding methods—pumping, formula feeding, combo feeding—without the backhanded compliments or unsolicited advice about how breastfeeding is basically a superpower.
Quit projecting your personal saga onto women who might be formula-feeding for reasons that are none of your business: traumatic birth, mastectomy, NICU stay, thyroid issues, or simply because they chose to.
It’s beyond frustrating that no matter what a person does, there will always be a chorus of loud, clueless critics ready to pounce—even when they’re actually nailing it.
