Well it’s still rainy and cloudy out there

…making the last few days really uninteresting and seemingly slower than usual. My car accident thing has turned into kind of a laughing matter, turns out the girl was driving a car with no collision insurance. Yeah, like that’ll ever hold up in court. I’m not going to try to collect damages for the damage on my car, it’s really just not worth my time. I don’t really care much about my car anymore anyway, so hopefully i’ve heard the last, or at least nearly the last, of that situation. Besides, after passing through that intersection a few times after the accident, I remember a lot more about it and am 100% certain I didn’t run any red light. But aside from that, nothing much else is new. Been spending a lot of time I don’t have hunting down new music I haven’t heard of. Lately i’ve become such a music fanatic, about as bad as my last couple years of high school. Back in those days every time i’d go to Fargo (every weekend) i’d buy 4 cds at a time every time, and eventually got a pretty good collection going. Now i’ve been not only doing that but ripping the music from my CDs right onto my computer so that I have a nice music library on the computer without having to ever insert a CD. And now, Apple’s new MP3 player (iTunes 4) lets you assign cover art to your tracks. Click on a song, and a tiny picture of the cover pops up in the corner. Totally useless, but very cool – but you have to add the art yourself. This means you have to hunt down the art for everything I’ve ripped or scan them in, and plug it into the program. Oh, but you say, you don’t have to. There’s nothing that requires you to do this.
Yes there is. I think it’s obvious by now I am possessed by an anal-retentive demon. And it gets worse: I am somewhat anal-retentive myself, but in a different way. Hence our conversations are excruciating. I look at my DVD collection, and I hear him. His voice is soft and insinuating, with a gravely note of menace. “Rearrange the DVDs”, whispers a voice in my head. Rearrange them alphabetically.
I drive my fists into my temples. No! They have to be ordered by genre! But that looks so ugly. So rough . So . . . random and unplanned. Order them by colors. Do it. Do it now. I have the same problem with my CD collection, they are alphabetical and all neatly aligned straightly. So I spent about 2 hours the other night searching all over for pictures of the album covers online so I wouldn’t have to do any scanning. Amazon.com’s CDNOW website worked out pretty well. But i’m sure i’m boring you, I can be pretty geeky sometimes. Speaking of geeks, our cat Logan is playing with some packaging tape so i’d better go and bring an end to his shenanigans for the evening. Then get some homework done…
