When I was a kid, I viewed the cookie monster as a fun, crazy monster who loved cookies just like me. Now I see him as a monster who has some serious problems with addiction and compulsive eating. I feel bad for him, because I can tell he doesn’t want to eat those vegetables, his overlords are forcing him.
I’ve recently watched an episode with my kids where he lost control and couldn’t keep himself from eating a piece of cardboard because it looked like a cookie. It was hilarious, of course…but troubling.
And what about the Count? He has to count everything. I’d say he has OCD. Oscar the Grouch has some legit issues. Snuffy has severe depression.
